I do remote freelancing, I also have a business partner where we log our hours spent on the business. This is super simple to use and the screenshot feature that verifies work helps avoid a lot of arguments with clients, as well as help me monitor my own work as well as other people employ remotely. It has really solved a problem. I have already recommended it to a lot of clients for their other remote workers etc and even agencies.
The interface on the website could be a little clearer and sometimes it feels as if it may slow my computer a little bit if I have a lot of tabs open plus this but no big deal.
As I said in the above, it helps me log my hours spent on the business with my business partner so we can see the value and time spent on the business - important for fairness and equity. Its great for when I am convincing clients to let me work remotely who may feel unsure about the idea because it reassures. And the same for myself when hiring remote employees, I just ask as standard practice if I am paying per hour rather than per task to use this and it just really helps everyone focus, buckle down, and reassures me too.
It allows me to track based on project. We have 20 projects going on at any one time with assistants from around the world. It allows us to see where they're spending their time and if they're getting stuck.
It took awhile to get used to the platform as far as finding out where things were. There are a TON of options (which is great), however, we only need a few. So it took some time to find things.
Organization. Time Tracking. Payment Tracking. It's been HUGE for us to use Hubstaff. We love it!!!
I love being able to track my freelancers time and schedule very easily. Makes payday a breeze and I can trust that the hours I'm paying for are the hours that were worked.
I would love to be able to more easily pay directly from hubstaff as well as have some of the other features in the higher level, but I'm sure i'll need to upgrade soon. I would also like a full tour so that I can understand all that is available to me!
I can track and pay my freelancers so much more easily!
Having my team's work tracked for me and being able to see screenshots of the work being done.
The learning curve was a bit confusing but customer service is extremely helpful and patient in answering all my questions promptly.
Hubstaff is my virtual supervisor. Being able to have the work my VA is doing for me monitored removes this responsibility from my to-do list which is huge for my busy schedule. Also being able to add different projects for my clients has made project management a breeze.
We use Hubstaff to measure our remote freelancer base of around 40 freelancers. Hubstaff allows us to see where our freelancers spend most of their time working and assures us that when they are working they are doing so efficiently. Different reporting metrics within Hubstaff help us to identify issues within our workflows and help us build a better experience for our freelancers.
It would be nice to have different themes to choose from or to be able to edit the color codes. This recent theme update is a super bright theme. The more choices the better.
We switched from another monitoring software believing Hubstaff would be the superior time tracking solution. We were mistaken by thinking this. This is because Hubstaff has proven to be more than just a time tracking system. Hubstaff allowed us to virtualize our team data like schedules, time off requests, projects, etc while being able to have runnable reports on all these data points. Hubstaff helped us cut down on project management fees. Their software allowed us to easily manage 40 individuals in-house instead of sourcing to a BPO or equivalent business.
Once setup, the ease of use is the best part. Just make new task (we use trello), refresh, then hit play. I really like the blurred screenshots, and reporting it pretty darn good too. It has apps for pretty much any productivity platform you can think of, so there are no issues getting new staff to use it.
Setup isn't the most intuitive task in the world, especially if you are adding an integration. I also would love it if it was just a little cheaper. Considering what it does for our company overall (timing only), compared to other products it's a bit expensive, but it's the best out there... for now.
Tracking all employees, local and remote, and even the boss!
Employee time tracking, employee activity percentage, screenshots. All of these really help manage remote employees.
The reporting UI/UX could be a lot better. Would like to see more information in a single screen with filters, rather than distributed.
Determining how much time employees spend on different tasks to see where bottlenecks are. Seeing how active remote employees are when they are supposed to be working has helped improve organizational efficiency.
I can see what everyone is doing, how much time they are spending on a task.
Understanding how much I owe to my developers.
Managing remote teams/developers
As a manager, I am a fan of the Toyota way and walking the factory line in an effort for continuous improvement. This is accomplished not just when you're physically walking an assembly line. You can do this is in the digital age and, using the data presented by the platform, generate insight on how you can improve your teams' productivity.
I don't dislike anything, at least for now.
Staying connected with remote workforce, ensuring productivity and becoming leaner
I've been using Hubstaff daily in my business for more than 3 years and love it. It's reliably accurate and I also appreciate the fact it takes screenshots for my clients. I'm able to close more clients working from home because I can assure them of my accountability. Highly recommended.
After working offline and then starting the timer online it can sometimes seem to not have recorded that time but it's just the way the software works while it's uploading this data to your account. There is no real issue and all the time tracked has always shown up correctly in the reporting online once it uploads after a couple of minutes.
I'm solving the problem of providing clients with the reassurance and accountability they require to move forward when hiring me. The screenshots and keyboard stroke logging help to close more deals especially if the client hasn't worked with a freelancer remotely before.
The 2 things I like most are the fact that Hubstaff takes screenshots so I know my staff are hard at work, and that it logs time with hourly rate making it easy for me to pay my staff.
Nothing I dislike about it right now - maybe the fact my staff have to open it up to login? I wonder if there could be a simple chrome extension they click which then starts the tracker??
I'm able to work on my own tasks without constantly having to check in on what my remote staff are doing, because if I want to I can just check it at the end of the day.
What I like the most about Hubstaff is that I have the ability to check how active I'm being. It's normal that at some point of the day you get distracted by something, but once you remember that you have a productivity timer, you get back at your job easy. Also, the fact that you can see how much time you've been idle for, helps to keep track of things such as lunch time or meetings way easier. LAstly, I like to see how much time I had done for the week and know how much exactly I'm going to get paid.
What I don't like much is the screenshot feature. Even though this is meant to keep track of the kind of stuff you are doing at work, and making sure your employee can see that you are spending time with the things you really need to focus on; it comes a bit intrusive because there are things you wouldn't want the c-levels from your company to always see; so that's not that comfortable sometimes to do, but it also forces you to not do what you are not supposed to do on business hours.
- Productivity timer - Paystub - Team management
Hubstaff is a quick and easy way to track your time working on a project. I like that I'm able calculate pay easily. I used only for Windows and works great. It is easy to use dashboard with graphs of productivity. Also you can view daily, weekly, and monthly productivity rate. I would highly recommend this to all my friends & previous co-workers to work efficiently with less supervision.
Limited features in order to use it for free. It doesn't allow me to write-in a description of activities accomplished on the billing.
I was able to monitor time spent and activity levels of employee and also to monitor screenshots and change frequency of them being taken .
Hubstaff is the professional grade software which is best for small as well as big business. I will recommend this to everyone.
Looks an amazing product, not much to dislike, However terminologies can be improved in UI. sometimes they confuse me.
Effective time tracking. Team management Client satisfaction.
What I like best about Hubstaff is how it integrates with our payroll, so it makes payment really easy and quick. It's also really simple to set up and start using it.
The idea that it takes screenshots regularly might not play along with some people, but they make sure to safeguard your privacy really well. No one has access to them but the admin staff from your own company.
We were looking for a time tracking solution that could help us improve productivity as well, Hubstaff helped us accomplish that, too. The perk was it make our payroll process so much better, too!
I really enjoy how visual the system is. Its very intuitive and easy to set up right from the get go.
I wish it was easy to see someone's time card in a grid view for pay day purposes. We pay out a little different than most and its a little difficult to navigate a report the way I need,
Using other time tracking systems was okay, but the ability to capture screen shots is really nice. We dont sit their and monitor employees, but if things seam to be moving slow, we can log in and see whats really going on. Also, knowing what URLs and which applications are team uses the most is very valuable.
Can modify the time and it can give me an alert during idle time.
none as of the moment.....................................

The screenshot activity, and the productivity features are the best. It helps me know how much I am actually doing. Everything is working seamlessly, and fast. User interface is designed with simplicity in mind.
Reports can be improved with better infographics. Also I would like if there is some activity showing in app
This program basically solved all my problems that I have communicating with clients. From recording working times, to screenshots, and paying.
It's complex and doesn't drag down the PC performance. Works on mobile as well.
I have no cons by now. I hope I will never have
My time is properly tracked and billed. I can see at anytime the amounts the company is owing me. and it helps to track my own performance.
Can record the time I spend on each project, analyse the time I spend each week etc., alter my hourly rate depending on the customer or project. Easy to use app that sits on my computer, ready to go at any time.
Nothing! I would like to have access to more features as a free user - there is only one of me...
I am making my time efficient, able to charge customers the actual time I spend, so I'm making more money!!
