This is great for entrepreneurs who want to leverage tech to scale their enterprise instead of people. OpenPhone allows me to run my business phone/text virtually on my cell, desktop, anything with an internet connection. Without it I would be paying an employee to do it.
File size when sending text attachments is small compared to iMessage, Apple Watch support is limited to notifications only.

Ease of use, price, able to keep my US number while living overseas
Had a little trouble with the initial setup but once all issues were resolved the product is excellent.
I was able to keep my US number which I had for many years and did not want to lose it while living abroad
I like that everyone on the team can see what has been said in all texts and I like that when someone is calling the OpenPhone line, calls are distinctive from your personal line.
Not much at the moment....maybe not being able to group my contacts into a category. If you have hundreds of contacts it'd be nice to filter that way.
Issues can be solved easily now that all team members can see in real-time what is going on. Streamlining conversations makes tasks go by faster.
Really liked the simplicity of settings, all on one page, took me 20 minutes to figure out it all. Plus a huge kudos for the text-to-speech feature! This is impressive
Didn't get how the text message templates work when missed the call.
Day to day communication with customers. Out of work hours is a great help, too. Enjoyed having the local US format type of the phone number.
The OpenPhone platform is extremely user-friendly, whether I'm working with the desktop or mobile app. Compared to other VOIP systems I've used in the past, this one seems to offer the most feature-rich and intuitive suite of assets I have found. And if you do have some questions as I did before and after I signed up, I found the custom support to be exceptional, responsive and helpful. It's refreshing to know that despite the advanced technology solution available here, that there is a great team of humans ready to help.
So far, there's been nothing to dislike.
OpenPhone provides a simplified international presence that is helpful for my business.
That I can contact my family and my work, easily, even though I'm in Canada!
I hate that third party phone services are blocked by verification steps for most accounts. It's not necessarily OpenPhone's fault, but it can get complicated when I'm temporarily living in another country, but need to do things like call my bank etc.
I can call my family without them getting $13203290 in international fees. I, also, am more accessible to the company I work for remotely.
✅ Some apps only have the call feature but OpenPhone also has the text messaging feature which is convenient. ✅ There's a clear connection when calling other people, unlike other apps. ✅ We can access our other team's phone number. ✅ We can also set auto-replies during and after business hours. ✅ This was the cheapest app we could find that had good features in it. ✅ We can easily get in contact with the support team if we had any questions.
There are just other features that I would like to have like sorting the contacts into lists or groups so it's easier to find them.
Being able to get in contact with our clients or leads easily whether it's through call or message.
The value and the quality of service are better than in other more expensive service providers.
Lacks a videoconferencing feature, but at this price point I'm not complaining ;)
As an international who has to do many US domestic calls, OpenPhone is very budget-friendly.
Use it primarily for shared messages. I get guest calls and allows us all to see what's going on and each team member. I use Zapier so that guest contacts and listings are automatically populated in my contacts and I know who is calling.
So far I don't have any complaints. I just ported another number over so I'm waiting to see how that goes.
I cannot take all calls and messages all the time. This allows me to get help. It also allows me to see who is contacting me.
Ease of set up, ease of sharing with team members
So far, the experience has been great. Some more integrations with chat apps (like Whatsapp and Messenger) might be useful for teams that are managing multiple communication channels.
A shared number that our teammates can use to assist with customer engagement
I used open phone for business contacts and it served my purposes perfectly. I didn't need a lot from the service--just a phone number with an area code of my choice that would allow business associates to contact me at their convenience. I received notifications that I had a call and almost never answered directly, allowing the caller to leave a voice message after listening to my customized greeting. I was able to respond to the calls at my convenience, after listening to the voice mail and/or reading the transcription provided. I could save important contacts to OpenPhone's address book.
This is a VoIP service, so I had some trouble at times when I tried to use it as a mobile phone. For example, some security check codes were never received and text messages were sometimes not received. However, as a VoIP functions as a landline (in my understanding), this is an expected difference from a mobile phone number's functionality. All in all, OpenPhone's service functioned perfectly as an affordable VoIP option!
OpenPhone allowed me to route all business calls to a specific number. This freed up my regular phone number for personal use and ensured that all business phone correspondences were together in one dedicated call list/inbox.
I would say one of the best things about OpenPhone is the easy to use service. The app works well and it's easy to understand. I'm in a different country for business reasons and my original US number is working as if I were in the US still! The absolute best thing about OpenPhone is the prime customer service. I've never experienced such nice, quick, and efficient service in a company. OpenPhone, you have my business forever!
The only downside is no international calls, but that's not really the reason why I use the service anyways. I really don't have any reason to complain!
I have moved abroad for my business and communicating with my US connections from my old US number is a absolute best benefit. I'm also still able to keep in touch with my family members without the headache of international call rates and choppy phone service. OpenPhone has allowed me to keep my original number without dealing with cell phone service companies and it has been fantastic.
Good sound on calls , User-friendly interface, friendly staff, everything work Perfect, Canadian Service :)!!!
When call Forwarded to External Number Call is NOT Recorded!!!!, No Disa Calling.
I needed inbound call routing for a small business and got it with OpenPhone.
Amazing phone app. It has all the capabilities you would think of. Choose your local number, texting, voicemail, etc. You can use it with the app on your phone, just like having a second line attached. You can even setup a WhatsApp account. You can also use the web based version and make calls and text from an amazing UI. Their customer service is awesome and super fast. I've tryied other similar services, but Openphone is the best. I've been a user for over 6 months now, and I'm sticking to it. The price is totally worth it.
Not much to dislike. Rarely there´s a short service interruption, but you can check on their website the service status.
You get a fully functional local number, and use it right in your mobile device. No matter where in the world you are, your US number is always on line. You also get free calls in the US!! Their web UI is amazing, I use it a lot for easy texting.
the iPhone app, the ease to call over a computer, the ease to port a number, how it does not break up or drop calls.
Sometimes there is a bit of static with calls. Wish it gave incoming call notificatios when the tab on the website is not open. Needs a google chrome app.
That we can download copies of text messages to spreadsheets. Using a computer to make calls and using the app. The ease of making calls to clients. THe ability for them to hear you clearly. How it can be used on the road and at the office.
OpenPhone provides a great service at a VERY reasonable price. From setup of my account to the porting of my existing number from Google, they were friendly, professional and kept me in the loop on the setup and porting process all along the way.
At this point my experience ha been all great. I cannot think of one thing thing where they have disssapointed me.
Quality of sound, ease of use, cost, integration to 3rd party services.
OpenPhone has a great interface and the system actually works! We migrated over from Grasshopper where we encountered on-going issues and we couldn't be happier with the features and support they provide.
The blocked number feature needs to be improved (e.g. we can't add blocked numbers unless the number called in or was called out to).
Customer support & user on-boarding; OpenPhone works really well for teams.
The app, simplicity, recording features, auto response features
I wish that it had an integration options.
Answering my business phone while in the go. Going back and listening to calls for quality assurance and to confirm.
They helped me problem solve until it was made right. So responsive and willing to help until it was right.
The porting over of the number took longer than I liked, but not sure that was all up to OpenPhone. Perhaps automtically extend the trial an additional week to allow for issues.
I was using skype for my business calls and well, it was unreliable, inconsistent and incredibly outdated. I am using Open Phone because they have a web app, ability to set office hours and a reliable voicemail service for a decent price.
Love that I can separate my personal cell phone from my work phone. My whole team has the app and can manage the main line, call out, and accept incoming calls.
I could use a bulk delete function with soo many missed calls over the last few months.
Having gone full remote, we no longer needed an office line. Ported our landline number in and no one knows any different calling in.
