Xero is better than Quickbooks for the small business owner without a lot of bookkeeping or accounting experience. I've found that Quickbooks requires that the user have a basic understanding of double entry bookkeeping to truly be successful. Xero does not.
Some of the reporting is lacking over what is available in Quickbooks. For most users, this isn't a problem but for a professional bookkeeper or accountant it is sometimes frustrating.
Xero streamlines the bookkeeping and accounting processes from invoicing to receipt storage. With just a little time regularly, a business owner can have data at his or her finger tips for business decision making and ready for tax time to boot!
Xero is easy to navigate and less intimidating than the more traditional Quickbooks. Even without the help of our accounting team, we've been able to generate reports and get a clearer understanding of our financials to make better decisions.
Creating custom reports can some times be labor intensive and the formatting isn't my favorite. However the information can be organized how you want, just may take some time.
Xero is giving us financial reports to help us make more informed and intentional decisions for our business. It simplified some of the complexities of accounting so that we could get to results much faster.
The fact that you can go back and make changes to invoices
In Projects it would be helpful if you can get the quote or invoice number automatically added to the project name once generated and to also automatically connect the quotes and invoices to a project without having to update it manually
To change a name on an invoice is a big positive and to be able to edit documents several times
*Mostly set it and forget it. Links seamlessly with my accounts, HR & payroll software, and retirement.
Doesn't integrate directly with Salesforce and other CRMs
Income & expense tracking with reduced overhead
It does everything you need an accountancy program to do and more, it's easy to use as you start automating processes, so reconciliation eventually becomes a few clicks. They are also at the right price point, as you only pay for what you need, you can add on extras, but you aren't paying for what you don't need, I do think that the pricing is just at the right point, if they increased the charges any further and we may feel differently. They also listen to feedback with one exception (the need to see a stock line with no stock, we have some products made to order, and this is sadly not an issue they are going to fix), but in every respect, they do act on feedback, they have their group on C Space designed to test new ideas and fix issues, and it's a great community.
The inability to sell stock lines with zero stock means you have to find your own workaround. The business reporting tools can sometimes need a lot of amending and aren't the easiest and quickest tools to find.
Bookkeeping and stock control
The software is error-free, as it automatically performs calculations that speed up our work, just by filling in some data, such as tax calculation, expense calculation, price calculation and costs. We have inventory control through the system, and we can determine which products are in stock, which products have discounts and offers, and which products are at their maximum price. All from the same system without the help of other programs.
I would like that the invoices could be more independent and customizable one from the other when I make them, because if I want to add different information to any of them, it does not allow me to do it and the process must be done manually. Like all financial software, it takes time to get to know it and become familiar with it, as it has many tools and functions available, which could be overwhelming for people who have no experience with similar software.
It is a software that we use to keep the accounting of the company in an easy and efficient way. It has very useful functions that allow us to perform bank reconciliations quickly, make online payments, automated payments to frequent suppliers, in addition to powerful reports and financial analysis that allow us to know in real time the financial data of projects, activities and the company in general.
Xero streamline accounting procedures through automation. Availability of both cloud and on-premise platforms.
Ever since I started using Xero, I have never experienced much troubles, but it lacks offline mode capability.
Automating accounts payable and receivable. Billing and invoicing. Expense reporting.
It's customer support has been helpful. It's price is Pocket friendly unlike other similar platforms. Also I like how it allows date of invoices to change - not rigid. Creating of invoices is easy with it. It Also has nice functionality to reconcile bank's account.
No integration and visibility to other payroll platforms.
It allows me to quickly label transactions. Also it allows me to easily pull reports like balance sheet and P&LS.
import function for banking, contacts etc. makes it easy to put information and also onboarding. export of reports as per the user's needs makes it more useful.
training videos can be available more, will be easy to get self-trained for a person.
efficiency and economy, save cost, save time. Work gets easy, no need to put statements manually. easily reports can be imported. one person can handle multiple accounts.
It is organized like an accountant would think -- logical, easy to operate, good, if not perfect, reporting. The automatic connection to our bank, credit card, and payroll services is great.
The reporting feature could be improved; no indirect cash flow statement, for example. Custom reports are a little clunky
Keeping track of our revenue and expenses, easy access to knowing where we stand at any time. The dashboard is
This accounting software is very user-friendly for every type of person. You don't have to have an excellent knowledge of accounting principles to use this software. It is very straightforward to use since you can pull all your transactions from your bank and credit card accounts.
Xero has some issues with linking with smaller banks in my area, so you have to import the transactions manually. It just adds an extra step that sometimes causes my clients problems.
Since this product is easy to use, it has helped me convince my clients that were doing it by hand to start using accounting software. It not only helps them understand how their business is doing but helps me when it comes to preparing their tax returns. Using Xero saves time and gives us reports that we can use to help them understand their business's financial status.
Extremely easy to use. Bank integrations are seamless and very easy to set up. Bank recons are almost fun to do. Excellent integrations into VAT, Payroll and PAYE
It can be a little 'condescending' and tries sometimes to hide perhaps a little too much of the accounting... Overpayments and unallocated payments are lumpy to deal with because Xero wants you to allocate them against an invoice. Does not integrate with CharlieHR (there is some disagreement between Xero and Charlie HR). I have reduced my rating to 9 because of this. We cannot use Xero in Poland (we have a second company in Krakow).
Monthly invoicing, all supplier purchase order management, VAT submission, payroll, monthly reporting, monthly management accounts. A few years back we would need a bookkeeper to manage our VAT return, now its really a click of a button.
Easy to use by business owners and easy for accountants to train business owners where to find the information
Override function for payroll is lacking
Help clients understand their business performance, bookkeeping is much easier and smoother
Gas all the features you can possibly need and is tailored for small business and startup needs. It also integrates with pretty much every tool out there and in my opinion is neck-in-neck with Quickbooks.
Can be cumbersome and difficult to learn at first. It also is more expensive than other tools out there, although still affordable compared to larger accounting suites.
Zero is the accounting center of our company where we track income, expenses and generate reports needed to run our business.
Xero is accounting software that is easy to use and has really helpful features that you can take advantage of, like Projects and integration with Salesforce.
I don't like that the Projects feature is an additional cost. I think that it should be included in the price.
Invoicing clients has become easier with the Projects feature. We have been able to keep track of projects as they get done and then invoice a client at the end of the month by reviewing the hours and sending the invoice out quickly. We don't need to keep separate spreadsheets with our hours and what we did, we just input it directly into Xero.
Very easy to use very low cost Easy to import and export statements Syncs with our bank account
Unable to work on multiple companies invoces at the same time frequent disconnects with bank information Should include more visual reporting features
Collecting and customizing data Invoices imports and exports
I have used multiple Accounting software like Quickbooks, Sage & Tally and I like Xero the most. Xero is very user-friendly and provides solutions for variable problems all in one place.
Sometimes, when I try to get transactions categorized as per Suppliers for a particular period, I have to do it manually, adjusting all the prepayments and accruals or reversals of them to get the desired output. It would be easy if I could get what I wanted in a single click.
Easily able to do the bookkeeping and Bank reconciliation are my favorite part. There are a lot of report features that come in handy sometimes.
The projects add-on is really useful when it comes to quoting and tracking project progress.
The reports aren't as intuitive as I would like.
Complex quotes, tracking and invoicing
Integrations with 3rd party services like Expensify and direct links to bank account.
About half of the user interface is old/legacy and there have been years of slowly updating reports.
We use Xero for all of our startup accounting needs. It handles all revenue streams, expenses, and reporting for investors.
The software is foolproof and relatively easy to understand. We have the ability to create and export invoices at an efficient rate. It took a small amount of time to be taught the processes of Xero, and I find it is also easy to access students' records. we also use Xero for our personal timesheets. It is perfect for keeping track of all past and future leave requests, as well as a copy of all my payslips. I would highly recommend XERO to anyone who is in need of a invoicing or payment platform.
Constantly being signed out and third party authentication can be an issue. Although it is a necessary precaution to ensure no one else is singing in. it does take up some time when swapping from my work Xero (this has our invoices for students) to my personal account (access to payslips and leave). When needing to clarify payments with students over the phone, having to authentic my account can cause a delay in response, furthe rpreventing other calls from being answered. However this issue is minor and would not deter me from using XERO.
we have had no problems with Xero since I have been a member of my organisaiton.
