I like that I’m the owner of the site, it’s extremely easy to use & multiple free templates available for use.
I wish that I was able to edit products from my website and that the products were a little more intuitive.
I needed a stand-alone website that was easy to set up.
Easy to edit website without having to update plugins or worry about any of the back-end.
Limited for e-commerce compared to Shopify.
Ease of keeping website updated and current without paying a designer for maintenance.
I really like how easy it is to get started with the basics
Nothing really - Squarespace is pretty great
We're using Squarespace to host a fun microsite for the agency. The benefit was getting up and running quickly with a professional-looking website1
Squarespace is very easy to use and the functions are well-integrated.
I dislike the price of Squarespace, a little too pricey.
Connecting with customers via a website. Promoting my business. Selling and exposing my brand.
The ease of use! It is so easy to make a website on Square Space that is consistently pretty throughout. Love it. I've never made my own site until now and it didn't take long for me to get the hang of it.
It hasn't got a lot of ecommerce subscription-based functions at the moment which is quite a pity as subscription ecommerce businesses are booming at the moment.
Being able to affordably have my own pretty website that I know how to edit because I build it from the ground up.
There are great settings to choose from in the dashboard menu - things like SEO, Ecommerce and general website editing
Haven't found much that I dislike - perhaps that it's not very easy to edit the templates
Building websites - it's quick, easy and cost-effective
I love how easy it is to use for myself as editor, and for my viewers as well.
I don't know if I have any complaints, I'm not tech savvy enough to know in what way this could be better.
Advertising and info. People are easily able to find answers to their questions without having to email or contact admin. Hours, location, services are all easily accessible.
Very easy to quickly set up a polished site.
Not enough customization opportunities. Most of the themes are just variations of the same theme.
Web design and hosting.
Squarespace makes it relatively easy to create simple blogs and websites. Uploading blog entries is a breeze and lots of functionality means photos, links, and other multimedia elements are a snap to add.
Squarespace doesn’t lend itself to every type of site, and certain aspects can be finicky.
Our business blog and sites use squarespace, so it’s solved quite a lot! With an ever-changing and evolving model, squarespace has grown with us.
Ease of use for non-programmers. Lots of different template options.
Difficult to change some things after selecting template (if you choose to customize it)
Offering low cost sites to clients that have features they want
I think Squarespace is the best tool to use for companies who are small and using it for a professional feel. I use it for 4 websites, it easy to use and look perfect. I'm not a designer but it allowed me to create what I wanted quickly and cleanly. I tried lots of web design companies over the years (wordpress/wix/etc) and honestly SquareSpace is the best by far. I would not use any of your precious capital on an agency.
Each template is its own private island, and functionality is not shared between them. Some templates you might like the way the navigation bar is formatted, but you don't like way it organizes social media links. Also, formatting is a bit of mess. Basically you end up using "spacers", which are building blocks you insert around the screen to delineate different areas for text and pictures. Customer Service could be better.
The payments are easily integrated, the templates are simple (take a bit of getting used to at first and limited in their editability - but still much better than most of the other stuff out there). All websties are by default mobile friendly, seo optimised, and social media integrated - perfect for small businesses who need the little extra help with these areas.
It is really quick to get a site up and running. You dont need a lot of web design experience to have an incredible looking site. The templates they offer are really beautiful and streamlined and give you a lot to choose from.
It is not easy to customize however you want, you are pretty limited within the template. So you have to play around with the different widgets and options to get the look exactly right and it is sort of glitchy to make edits.
Quick to get a site up and running, and great for showing a portfolio of work. It is where I host all my portfolio, about me, contact info, etc - my main site. It's a little pricey though.
Squarespace has an excellent design, from the front-end to the back-end
The blog feature of Squarespace is sorely lacking--I've had posts fail to save more times than I could count, which has cost time and effort to recreate. It seems strange that this happens repeatedly, esp. as Squarespace has a draft feature.
Having a website, in general, is good for traffic. Having a website that doesn't need an expert developer to be managed is also good.
It's very customizable and easy to drag and drop things.
I've had issues with dragging and resizing photos. Sometimes it looks fine but then when you view it as a final, it looks differently
Helps us stay engaged with our customers and leads through blogs and links to offerings.
Great templates out of the box. Heavy emphasis on sound design.
Lack of customizations and integrations. This makes things simpler, but sometimes you want to integrate or customize, and is it isn't easily possible.
Business Website
The support team is great. If there's a unique feature I wanted to implement, the feedback I got from them steered me in the right direction 95% of the time. Custom features where available for me to create by myself with they steered me in the right area.
The business email promotion came out after I signed up. I know it was a promotion to bring in new users, but I feel like they should have rewarded longstanding members with the business email option.
I designed two websites centered around travel content with Squarespace.
I love that you can really dig in deep to the code to make the tweaks to templates that you want.
I feel like while this product IS very easy and straightforward for people with a basic working understanding of how websites and web design works, if you do NOT have this knowledge or skill set, your website will obviously show the deficit. It is a very time-consuming builder, as well. A little clunky.
Since implementing Squarespace, I have been able to refer potential and existing clients to my website for policy, protocol, and prices. I am also in the process of building a blog component to better engage with my clientele even when they do not need my services.
I really love SquareSpace. The websites are such a great quality and perfect for eCommerce and small businesses.
It’s a little challenging to start out, there’s a high learning curve
It allows different options for streams of pages and multiple blogs for one site.
Wide variety of templates, haven't been stuck for one that isn't suitable yet
Lack of ability to customise code, however this is not necessary in most of the time.
Quick, easy and seamless design all in fitting with the house-style.
I like that Squarespace offers the potential to create beautiful and simple websites easily and quickly without an engineering background or resource. They provide a number of solutions for e-commerce, blogs, etc. The templates/UI for building your website are world-class and intuitive. The community forum is a helpful resource.
If you have specific workflow or designs in mind, you may not be able to achieve it within Squarespace's parameters as it is more of a "cookie cutter website producer." If you're a developer, Squarespace is more of a hindrance than an assistance. Those familiar with Squarespace will be able to tell a website was built using it.
If you have a business idea that requires some kind of website or blog, but you lack the resources or experience to build one -- Squarespace provides the ease of use, UI to create and sustain, as well as metric tracking.
