User interface is intuitive and local administration is very user friendly
This software shouldn't require a consultant to implement. OneStream could provide better training or in-house implementation included in the cost of the licenses.
Better reporting around Account Reconciliation compliance and adherence to the policies. Good approval workflow and audit logs
The tool is extremely easy to use and has incredible extensibility to automate processes and drive efficiencies. Their focus on customer success is also a key differentiator.
The only challenge is not with t(e tool itself but with historical data challenges.
Improving planning and forecasting cycle time, automation of processes and extensibility for profitability reporting.
One application that handles consolidation, planning, forecasting, reporting, tel, etc.
Would like to see a better excel add in with ad hoc capability.
All of our consolidation, planning, and reporting needs. We were able to reduce month close by 10 days.
So Why OneStream? OneStream XF is a platform not a product. So, what does that mean? From a business perspective, it means the end to spending time determining which product and technology to use as OneStream was developed to support Consolidations, FP&A, Management Reporting, Account Reconciliations, Strategic Finance, Governed Analytics, etc. providing a consistent technology platform. From an implementation perspective, the limitations and compromises of Hyperion / Oracle are eliminated due to a platform that is extensible, scalable, modern and secure. From an IT perspective you are in the driver’s seat, deploying a modern architecture that is operating in either your company’s data center or in the cloud.
Would suggest improvements to Metadata management and synchronization of metadata between environments.
Consolidations, Planning, Forecasting, Account Reconciliations, People Planning, Sales Reporting, Dashboarding, Zero-Based Budgeting, custom drill through, and OneStream XF was utilized to replace Hyperion Strategic Finance to support Cash Planning.
OneStream is by far the best consolidation tool that I have ever worked on. The reporting, upgrades, ease of use, and automation are fantastic.
Sometimes the excel function can be tricky to learn but once you get familiar with it the tool is great!
The ability to load from our ERP into OneStream has been very benenificial. The users pick up the tool very easily. And the ability to add more dashboards like Account Recs has been great!
Hands down, my favorite part of OneStream is the flexibility of the software. There continues to be new ways to utilize the software on almost a weekly basis.
While not a complete dislike, there are certain challenges with report formatting that I've been working through for quite some time. The formatting could be a little more user friendly that would then compare to the user friendliness of the rest of the software.
The idea of creating "One Source of the Truth" is probably one of our biggest benefits. We can utilize the same software for both internal and external reporting as well as allowing multiple disciplines to utilize the same solution.
We really appreciate the reduced reliance on IT infrastructure due to (a) having the database supported by Azure and OneStream. Tied for best, we also love how flexible the planning capabilities have been to capture our evolving complex needs
It is newer than other legacy platforms out there and as such there are less people available to help... less "experts", if you will. We've just taken on learning as much as we can on our own.
We struggled with forecasting a business that can change dramatically quickly and with mobile assets. OS afforded us the flexibility within the hierarchy to do just that. We are also multi-national, multi-currency and it has allowed all locations to be involved without any latency or performance issues.
Adaptability of the product through configuration. Development of reports, dashboards, etc., can be accomplished without the need to hire a programmer to write custom code. The launching of the Academy to allow for self-instruction has been a huge benefit to our team, allowing us to expand usage of the product through development of dashboards.
Performance can be an issue with large entity and account structures. Having a fairly complex entity structure, it takes the system over 2 hours to run a full consolidation. There is a point where no matter how many processors or memory is given to it, the system simply cannot process records any faster.
The entire financial close process has improved since implementing OneStream. Workflow guides the users through the steps they need to take to complete the close process. Validation checks ensure data quality. Integration with ERP systems is great! We knocked a day off the monthly financial close and have improved data quality immensely.
Multidimensional analysis through the different ERPs that conform our Group
BI still needs development and should be easier to use
We use it for Consolidation, Planning and Reporting. BI under development right now
Software functionality is absolutely state of the art. A modern architecture (e.g. updates only take two hours) combined with a professional cloud offering. OneStream support is absolute top, any ticket we open (even non urgent ones) are usually looked at within two minutes. Furthermore, OneStream is very much interested in bringing customers up to speed. They teach us how to use and maintain the product without trying to sell us a lot of consulting hours.
We don't say this lightly, but we have really no issues at all.
We run a very complicated consolidation through OneStream. We have realised a lot of efficiencies by automating processes. The tool is extremely stable and a big improvement for our end users in terms of workflow management and speed.
I like the intent my organization has with Onestream. We plan to use this 1 portal for financial, statutory, legal, business and management. The software is easy to use. Like any other reporting software, the underlying data needs to be accurate.
I dont dislike anything about the software.
1 portal for financial, statutory, legal, business and management. Accountants will have more time to analyze the data than laying out data in a readable format.
OneStream XF is a platform, meaning it has multiple solutions in it. We implemented Consolidation and IFRS16 (which is a marketplace solution, like an app). But also data integration, reporting and planning is included.
The learning curve is pretty steep since it is such a big platform. Since everything seems possible it is a challenge to balance a world-class application versus project timelines and budget.
Consolidation and IFRS16 is now in one system with the same user experience. It is all maintained in one central place.
Reconcilation which made easy and scenario based analysis helpful for managment decisions
Required some more automation connection like excel VBA enabled.
Onestream helping management to do anlaysis of business decisions.
Easy to use and consolidate many entities replicating similar data. Quick to update and review previous periods, Easy to calculate financials in particular Fx rate
Adding accounts to the report is not straightforward, cannot delete cells once you add one by mistake. Account codes are not self-explanatory easy to make mistakes. Will not bother giving you consolidation unless you create your own
Budget process and periodical reporting. Fast consolidated sub-divisions give flexibility and speed to the month-end reporting process. Can utilize excel capabilities and link source systems thru other link softwares.
I like that the window in excel with the onestream add-on updates in real time.
You have to use internet explorer to initially launch onestream XF. It also takes some time to query, even slower than other Saas products.
Exporting and importing reports.
