"SEMrush increased prices by 110% with one month's notice and has a confusing UI/UX"
What do you like best about Semrush?

The best part of SEMrush was the price before they increased it by 110% for our various services. The cost went from $69/month to $140/month for the basic plan and social media poster tool.

What do you dislike about Semrush?

In my years of using SEO tools, I've seen various changes and adaptations to platforms, but SEMrush's latest move to increase fees by 110% in one month left me highly disappointed. SEMrush's UI is cluttered and feels like it was designed in the 1990's. In addition, the premium features not included with my plan are scattered across the user interface. No one wants to see features that aren't included in the plan. Exorbitant Price Increase: The recent decision by SEMrush to hike up their monthly plan from a reasonable $69/month to a hefty $120/month with a mere month's notice is, to put it bluntly, outrageous. It's hard enough to budget for consistent monthly expenses without such sudden and drastic changes. Social Media Poster is now paid: SEMrush's Social Media Poster was a helpful tool and included with their basic plan for up to 10 accounts. With one month's warning, it's now a paid product at $20/month. Not cool. UI Clutter with Premium Features: One of the most annoying issues is the incessant addition of premium features to the site's user interface and navigation. Not only is this incredibly cluttered US for users who pay for premium features, but it complicates the training process for staff using the tool. A feature shouldn't be visible if it isn't part of the package. Simple as that. Outdated UX/UI: The site's user experience and interface feel archaic. Trying to navigate it is reminiscent of stumbling through a digital maze from the 1990s. This just shouldn't be the case with today's modern front-end frameworks (i.e., React, etc.). Aggressive Marketing Tactics: The frequency of their promotional emails and calls urging an upgrade to their pro plan, now priced exorbitantly at $250/month. I don't want to pay 5X what I was paying when initially getting the tool and I don't want more voicemails. Don't keep contacting me if I don't answer the first 100+ emails. It's a far cry from when I started using their service at around $50/month. Final Thoughts: The SEO analytics market has competitive, affordable options. With SEMrush's 110% price increase this past month, I will no longer recommend the tool. Those looking for value, transparency, and a modern UI/UX might want to search elsewhere.

"The price put us off a bit at first, but it's worth every penny."
What do you like best about Semrush?

In our decision-making process, we compared both SEMrush, Ahrefs and Moz. Moz was not the tool we were looking for (too basic, focussing too much on the US), so it came down to SEMrush and Ahrefs. Both tools being quite comparable to each other at first sight, we started looking into the differences between each other. A big advantage we discovered is definitely the Display Ads 'spying' tool.

What do you dislike about Semrush?

The pricing is a bit high compared to other tools. Especially the fee to add extra users is unreasonably high.

What problems is Semrush solving and how is that benefiting you?

We were working with an agency that took care of our SEO, but we had the feeling they had a bit too much power on our SEO, where we were left a bit in the dark. Since we're using SEMrush, we can monitor their efforts way better, and we don't have to pay them anymore to give us 'recommendations' that they just copy-pasted from SEMrush.

"Amazing way for small business owners to analyze their website performance with SEO and speed"
What do you like best about Semrush?

I love the feature that let's you analyze the keyword and backlink gap with your competitors. This is very useful in determining which keywords you aren't ranking for, that you could be getting

What do you dislike about Semrush?

I think that Semrush's billing plans are geared more toward marketing or seo agencies that can afford to resell the services. As an owner of a video production studio, I am not reselling the services and oftentimes I find that I either need to upgrade to the Guru plan to get some features that would be key to measuring content performance. At my current plan that costs ~100 per month, I feel like certain features should be included or the price should be reduced to make it more palatable for a consistent basis.

What problems is Semrush solving and how is that benefiting you?

Along with some independent reading, Semrush has allowed me to see the progress of the SEO efforts I am making over an extended period of time. Since I've started using Semrush, I feel like I am shooting at a target rather that spraying all over the place hoping the optimization that I've been doing hits something. For me, Semrush has become an essential tool, and I am continuing to use it more broadly every day.

"Great value for larger agencies, costly for freelancers"
What do you like best about Semrush?

Great amount of tools and historical data. It is no surprise that this is the "go-to" tool for many SEO professionals. The design and interface are clean and responsive, and the e-mail alerts on keyword tracking are great.

What do you dislike about Semrush?

The price is too high for freelancers and small agencies. I sporadically use this tool and would love to use it daily, but the price is too high.

What problems is Semrush solving and how is that benefiting you?

I haven't encountered any memorable issues in 100+ hours of use and as such, I can't even comment on the quality of the support.

"All in one"
What do you like best about Semrush?

I like that semrush has everything. Every type of SEO tool from AMP checking to keyword reaserching to spam score.

What do you dislike about Semrush?

I feel that some tools lack precision. For example the math behind the competitive score is based on Google's AdWords. That should not be used as a matric for SEO competitiveness. Also, what I really hate is the the feeling that everything that I want to do I'm charged more and there is never Peace of mind of just not being charged for everything extra.

What problems is Semrush solving and how is that benefiting you?

Website auditing, keyword reaserching.

"Amazing and powerful SEO tool"
What do you like best about Semrush?

The good thing about semrush is that the tool has various functionalities like keyword tracking, backlink auditors and domain analysis, which when combined and used give us terrific results. The competitor analysis is a game changer as we are able to figure out value and easy keywords where are competitors are ranking and bidding which we dont, we are constantly tweaking our seo game with this functionality.

What do you dislike about Semrush?

The pricing is justifiable for SEO agencies but for individual company users like us, it is pricey.

What problems is Semrush solving and how is that benefiting you?

Get value keywords from competitors and overall market

"Great tool, but limits/cost can be a barrier"
What do you like best about Semrush?

The Organic Research tool and the Writing Assistant are awesome tools that have really helped our agency improve our writing from an SEO standpoint. What has also been really beneficial is the new support rep that we have gotten – which I believe is somewhat new. Having someone that we can tap into, ask questions, and bounce ideas off of is incredibly helpful, especially as a small agency who is somewhat new to SEMrush and all of its functionality.

What do you dislike about Semrush?

The limits and costs for new users are a little too stringent. If users are finding the tool helpful and we are a small agency without more budget for this, we are essentially forced to not use the tool anymore for that specific tactic, or we're switching to other tools that are free and do similar things – it just creates an unnecessary amount of friction. The biggest friction point, though, that makes no sense is the $200/month for Guru and then an additional user is $150/month, which is more than adding a separate Pro plan, and is 3/4 the costs of a brand new Guru plan. For an agency and most companies I'd imagine, this just doesn't work well and is not super cost-effective...

What problems is Semrush solving and how is that benefiting you?

SEO for our content – blogs, pillar pages, website pages – has been an area we were really lacking and this tool was a great way to get us heading in the right direction.

"Great place get your SEO game up and learn on the way. Great tools."
What do you like best about Semrush?

Tools, the diversity of them. I learn about a function and/or how to use it every month. This helps when creating content, looking for content, gauging the value of my content and cost of my content. When searching for keywords, trends, analyzing our site and seeing where we could improve helps a great deal at the time we need to prioritize tasks. The lessons are great, very jam packed within 5 minutes, which you later can extend upon with the reading material. I have not asked anything to the people that teach it because its via twitter though and not sure if I have to use the company account for that. I also liked that you have someone with you at the beginning, as I had never used it or another similar tool to find learn about SEO, keyword, site audits etc, it was good to have someone I could ask questions to. Overall great product.

What do you dislike about Semrush?

It is a little pricey but we do use a lot. Wish that they did not keep popping up on my youtube pages as we are already paying. Sometimes navigation can be clunky. Lose track of how to find things or need to have several pages to make sure I do not lose my spot. Meaning if I leave, sometimes its hard to find my way back. I have the guru plan I think, which only allows one user. It is a pain if anyone has a doubt about something they can access it, it will give you errors if by any chance 2 people log in at the same time. We just wait for the other one to finish and then log in, but for $200+ a month, another user would be nice.

What problems is Semrush solving and how is that benefiting you?

Content management, SEO, site health, keywords, questions, learning SEO etc.
