"Individual Experience is great but the team experience is eh"
What do you like best about Notion?

I love being able to customize pages exacatally how I want. The kanban boards have helped with my software projects. I use it for all my notes now and any links I find on the web. The AI feature is nice for helping with research.

What do you dislike about Notion?

I'm not too fond of the teamspace pricing. I feel it's a little steep for how few features I need. I was working on a software project and was using notion to keep up with the documents and features, and I wanted to invite my friend to assist me on it. Instantly, even though it was only a couple pages and a kanban board, I had to purchase a premium license for him and myself. I am looking for a different app to move that project to now to cut down on costs. Also the AI is a little lacking when it comes to page formatting. Stuff like converting a bulleted list to checklist is a little iffy. I also was unable to get it to insert anything into a database page, which would honestly be really helpful. I understand this is a new feature and I am sure your team will be adding more stuff soon enough, but it feels like a very weak chatGPT that I am paying for. I dont want this to seem like a negative review. I do use and will continue to use notion, but probably not the paid features now.

What problems is Notion solving and how is that benefiting you?

Its an excellent note-taking app. It syncs with all my devices (even mobile) and lets me keep everything in one place. I am able to move most of my project management stuff over to it, which is fantastic.

"Incredible Tool for Knowledge Work (but...)"
What do you like best about Notion?

Notion is a great product for knowledge work - as a matter of fact, it's the only one I recommend to my friends to this day. All the tools you need are there and easy to use - but if you need advanced solutions, Notion does some pretty nifty things too. It's a great tool for project management and cooperation. Creating databases, keeping records, expanding the team's knowledge pool - it does everything an advanced tool like Atlassian can, but way more intuitive. Notion also works great for personal projects. I used Evernote for that before, and it annoyed me to no end with clunky UI, limited functionality, and weird design choices. Notion does everything I hoped Evernote would, and you don't need to navigate a slow and clunky interface to do it. Also, the page that allows you to migrate from Evernote to Notion filled me with the most delightful schadenfreude: https://www.notion.so/evernote

What do you dislike about Notion?

Had you asked me for this review a few months back, it would've been an easy 10/10. Since then, I did discover a part of Notion that I passionately dislike: the billing. Notion uses seat-based plans, meaning there is a certain number of users per paid plan. Go over that, and you get upgraded - standard stuff. But what it doesn't really clarify is that everyone you invite to cooperate - even a person who left one comment in a marketing plan - is counted towards that cap. There is no warning, you simply get billed on the spot. Even worse, you don't get any kind of banner or email after the upgrade. Your card simply gets billed. There is a very narrow cancellation window, so if you don't notice the extra charge in time - you're out of luck. They did give us Notion credit when we complained as a way to compensate. But when your company is forced to pay more than double the initial price asked, it felt as good as giving us some Monopoly money. Thanks guys. Notion is a great product that doesn't need to trick its customers to get paid. The value is well on display - just ask and we will be glad to pay. As it stands, my team feels we were duped.

What problems is Notion solving and how is that benefiting you?

Notion solves the problem of data availability. It's very easy to create a system that keeps all the info you need handy. Even better, there are easy-to-use integration and automation tools. Those help you cross-reference data, save time on repetitive tasks, and just make your database look gorgeous.

"Great for simple databases, poor export capabilities"
What do you like best about Notion?

I like that Notion provides a great "second brain" data warehouse for my work and ideas. I am currently learning how to use it and have come to appreciate the wide variety of keyboard shortcuts and relative simplicity of the interface. I like that it does not look and feel all shiny polished-up (and iOS-like) the way some alternatives do. Feels more like a blank canvas and less constricted, even though there is still a lot of room for improvement.

What do you dislike about Notion?

One area which drives me nuts are the dismal export capabilities. And I'm not just talking about the lack of ability to copy and paste the entire contents of a page into an externmal editor. I am referring to the compelte inability to even export anything as RTF. This feels intentional and is seriously handicaps the user's ability to integrate Notion into their workflow if they use other apps, like I do. This prevents the user from being able to expoert to or even copy and paste the entire contents of a page into Wordpress, for example. Native Wordpress integration would be FANTASTIC. The Wordpress blocks editor is great - and you can easily copy and paste the contents of a Word doc into it. Not possible from Notion. Frankly, this feels intetntional, and it stinks. The Notion ai is a good start, but it feels very early/underdeveloped and consistently lacks sophistication and accuracy in its responses. Significant errors in the data it pulls in are common. For example, when asking about a movie, it described the movie as "upcoming" and pending release, but the film came out two years ago. This type of mistake is common. The responses lack the sophistication I have seen in other ai products, and literally every single response requires significant massaging with multiple follow-up prompts to be anywhere near useable in copy, and even then they will require deep editing. Notion's AI is best for mining data and doing research. Producing workable copy is not its strong suit - which is a shame, as my application requires lots of good copy. I find myself spending an enormous amount of time editing anything it produces before it can be used in a document or blog post. This feels like an AI in preschool. It needs to grow up and be trained and its "cognitive" abilities need to grow and mature--it really sounds like a child is behind the curtain sometimes. ChatGPT produces responses which can be read without feeling like you are reading something written by an school-aged child doing a research project for the science fair. The constant massaging of responses is tiresome and frustrating--and it never seems to produce a result I am happy with. Lots of work to do here, Notion.

What problems is Notion solving and how is that benefiting you?

Notion provides a centralized warehouse of ideas and simple project plans. For example, notion is great at keeping track of things in simple databases. Most of what I am using Notion four consists of relatively flat, databases and research projects. I have attempted to use it for project management, but found its p.m. tools lacking. I feel like Notion is very early stage, and for it to be an effective p.m. tool, someone at Notion needs to go play with Microsoft project and Asana for a while. Also, some thing I would love to see in Notion would be native mind maps. Free, floating bubbles connected to each other would be wonderful. The blank canvas look of Notion is an illusion. Everything must snap to grid, and it would be great is we truly had free reight over each page's workspace, perhaops with the ability to turn a "snap to grid" feature on and off.

"Loving Notion!"
What do you like best about Notion?

I love that it is so adaptable, it is truly a sandbox and the possibilities are infinite. I love that it is a really simple and clean interface, with no designs forced on the user. This frees up so much brain space and allows me to be creative in my own way. I love that it is making me more organised every day. As I use it more and more I am getting to know it's capabilities and it is making my life so much easier. As an entreprenuer, I am using it to power my business relaunch and it's keeping me on track with what I need to do. I love that it is constantly growing with me!

What do you dislike about Notion?

It can feel a little overwhelming to start with but I think that's kind of necessary as it is very is very quick to learn, and I think if features were hidden etc it would get frustrating. I think the throw yourself in there and get on with it approach works well! Sometimes the AI goes down, this can be frustrating.

What problems is Notion solving and how is that benefiting you?

Notion is truly becoming my second brain! It gives me somewhere to dump out all my thoughts, get them organised and allow me the brain space to think clearly and be creative as I need to be. It also really keeps me on track with where I am with everything. It is also a bit like having a personal assistant. It helps me get things done, and I often use it to tell me what to do when I'm not sure what I need to do! Having ADHD and being a entreprenuer (and mum) means that I am always working on a million and one projects, Notion is really helping me follow through and feel so much more organised, especially when I have that dreaded brain fog! I can't stress enough how much Notion is benefitting me, reducing my stress levels, helping me be successful in my business and making me feel so much calmer. I feel like it will be able to grow with me too. I have already started using it for my home stuff as well. I just love the endless possibililties! I have attempted to use several project management solutions in the past but they never stick, I always end up feeling restricted by them. Notion blows them all out of the water because you can make it exactly what you need it to be, no one telling you you must do it a certain way etc, and I've yet to encounter something that I wanted to do with it but couldn't. It genuinely feels like anything is possible! It is truly absolutely genius and I can't recommend it highly enough! Thanks Notion!

"I am grateful to Notion AI for supporting me in forming ideas and analyzing information."
What do you like best about Notion?

I am very grateful to Notion AI because it is very helpful when I shape my ideas. The AI function feels very familiar, providing language translation, summarizing long texts, answering various proposals and questions, making me feel like I have a competent assistant. I am very happy that Notion AI promotes my work and gives me a sense of accomplishment. Furthermore, I find this product practical, user-friendly, and an excellent tool. Thank you for creating such an amazing product.

What do you dislike about Notion?

I don't particularly feel anything unnecessary. Occasionally, I do have some dissatisfaction with not being able to connect with AI, but since I can use it at a reasonable price, it's not a problem.

What problems is Notion solving and how is that benefiting you?

Translation of language is of course, as well as summarizing long texts, answering various proposals and questions.

"Beware of Payment"
What do you like best about Notion?

It's infinitely configurable but very difficult to learn.

What do you dislike about Notion?

Do NOT give them your payment info. I provided a credit card to use sharing features. They originally charged me $96 for team sharing, which I thought was fair. Six months later, I was charged $431.60 with NO notification, NO receipt, NO communication of any type. I only found the charge when reviewing my statements. When I requested a refund, this is the response I was given. Unfortunately, we're unable to offer refunds after 1 month from your sign-up date for the Yearly plan and after 3 days for the Monthly plan, as explained on our Plans and pricing page here. As far as functionality, it's okay if you're willing to invest a LOT of time learning how to use it. However, I prefer OneNote for the simplicity and the ability to track tags across multiple pages.

What problems is Notion solving and how is that benefiting you?

They're designed to solve issues with note-taking. They allow you to create custom templates that can be used. I spent a chunk of time learning to use the tool, and it was only ever mediocre in my opinion.

"Advanced digital notebook for notes, journaling, guides, and more"
What do you like best about Notion?

This software, along with several more advanced features, can be enjoyed for free, making it an extremely accessible tool. The most impressive aspect of this software, however, is the ability to reference existing content within itself. A user can reference existing content through the standard linking of another page or by using my favorite feature -synced blocks.

What do you dislike about Notion?

As a person who enjoys using this software and free software, I'm at a bit of a crossroads. I find extreme value in using this software as an individual user and frankly would like to be able to share that value within a collaborative setting. Collaboration is possible but at a cost that is a bit on the steeper side, in my opinion. There were also some features that I felt should be relatively standard to free software (such as printing a complete pdf) which require the premium license. Outside of price, however, I find that the mobile app is sometimes difficult to use on the iPad. I find it much more convienient to use a computer when working in Notion if I am doing a lot of formatting.

What problems is Notion solving and how is that benefiting you?

Notion has been able to fulfill a wide range of solutions for me. Task-wise, I have used it as a journal, for taking notes, to create guides/manuals, and as a way to organize lists. It has allowed for me to improve my organization since it is consistently available to me on multiple devices.

"Overall Excellent!"
What do you like best about Notion?

Notion is a great tool for getting stuff done. It lets you do things your way, work with others, and connect with other apps. It's perfect for people and teams who want a simple and easy way to manage their tasks and projects. We use this for a start company to track and share our goals and progress.

What do you dislike about Notion?

Product pricing could be optimized, for example, Plus plan is meant for small teams which is still charging quite a bit, maybe it can offer some reduced sub fee for multiple users (up to a max allowed).

What problems is Notion solving and how is that benefiting you?

With Notion incorporating AI functionalities, I can sort through mass amount of information in a short amount of time. Also, it can help me re-write texts to different audiences, adjust tone and most importantly, help me organize my thoughts before actually writing anything based on the info I feed it.
